5 Players to Watch in the NCAA Tournament

March Madness is rapidly coming up and Selection Sunday is going to be on March 11, 2012. For one of the greatest months in college sports, we at Razorgator are going to roll out various blog posts about the tournament. So with that said, here are our five players to watch for in March Madness

5. Casper Ware (LBSU)

Now I admit that there is a bit of a bias with Casper Ware (I do go to Long Beach State), but you can’t deny this man’s ability to play basketball. After teaming up with Lebron James to play in the legendary Drew League if LA, a summer league that showcases some of the best street ballers out of the LA area, Casper is receiving much attention from big NBA names. In a tweet, Lebron made it known to the world that he is taking notice to Ware. Though standing at 5’10, his height will be a question to how well he will play against bigger guards. Casper is in his senior year at LBSU and it’ll be interesting to see how he’s going to end his college basketball career.

4. Austin Rivers (DUKE)

Who hasn’t heard of Austin Rivers? We even have a couple of blog posts that included the Duke Prodigy. In his freshmen year at Duke, he is making big noise in college hoops and is expected to have a lustrous basketball career. As the son of Celtics’ Coach, Doc Rivers, Austin has shown that he isn’t afraid of living to the moment (evidence is shown in the last second shot against North Carolina in their own arena that won the game). What lies ahead for Austin Rivers in the tournament? We have to watch to find out.

3. Jared Sullinger (OHIO STATE)

Jared Sullinger expected to be a top prospect for the NBA Draft and if this is his last year in Ohio State, it’ll be interesting to see how far he’ll take the Buckeyes into the tournament. Standing at 6’9, Sullinger is a gifted big man with a great ability to score and rebound. Expect to see this young man to create a buzz in the tournament.

2. Harrison Barnes (UNC)

Harrison Barnes is currently leading North Carolina into yet another tournament run. With UNC as one of the favorites in the tournament, it’ll be interesting to see how Barnes will play to expectations. Harrison is currently a top 5 NBA draft prospect according to ESPN, and is considered to be a small forward with the “whole package.” Expect to see Harrison Barnes to play a huge role in the NCAA Tournament.

1. Jeremy Lamb (UConn)

After playing in the shadows of Kemba Walker last year when they won the 2011 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship, Jeremy Lamb is out there in hopes to lead UConn to a second straight title. Lamb’s versatility is attributed to his outrageous length and ability to play the guard and the forward. Will Jeremy Lamb lead UConn to another title? We have to wait and see.
